From vision to global trade impact — our journey in free zones and investment advisory

Founded on September 17, 1971, Araujo Ibarra was established by lawyer Gustavo Ibarra Merlano and Ramiro Araújo Grau (former Director of Customs of Colombia) to provide legal services and advisory in international trade, customs and tariffs. That same year, Martín Gustavo Ibarra, our current President, joined the firm as an intern.
We believe free zones are key drivers of economic growth, industrial transformation and global integration. For over five decades, Araujo Ibarra has worked with companies, governments and trade stakeholders across the Americas, the Caribbean, Africa and Asia, contributing to the evolution of free zone frameworks, competitiveness strategies and international trade ecosystems.Led by internationally recognized trade and free zone expert Martín Gustavo Ibarra, our firm combines strategic vision, technical expertise and a global network of senior advisors and specialists to anticipate emerging trends and deliver high-impact solutions for the future of trade, investment and industrial development.
